Resonant Fatigue Testing for Fatigue Life Predictions



A new resonant fatigue testing methodology was developed for acceleration of fatigue testing of multiple specimens. A shaker operates in a closed-loop control with dynamic specimen response feedback provided by a scanning laser vibrometer. A developed PSV test coordinator can monitor structural health of the test specimens throughout the test period, recognize change in specimen dynamic behavior due to fatigue crack initiation, terminate test progression and save test data in on orderly manner.
